How to Keep Safe in Chat Rooms - This site provides information on the
dangers of using unmoderated Internet chat rooms, and aims to "stimulate
parents and caregivers to take greater interest in what their children are
doing on the net and help them ensure that we all use the net safely."
Includes an online chat simulation game, parents' guide, links to good chat
room examples, and recommendations for keeping safe in online chat rooms.

Incredible Inetenet - This annotated directory is designed "to help
people of all ages cut through the Internet's clutter and find the Web's
best sites to improve their everyday lives." Topics include education,
health, technology, entertainment, online safety, and more.
The Kids on the Web - Annotated collection of sites that offer
information for and about children. Sections include Fun Stuff, PenPals,

NetSmartz Workshop: Keeping Kids and Teens Safe on the Internet - This

information." Browse fact sheets and other consumer material about topics
such as identity theft, wireless security, spyware, social networking sites,
investing online, and laptop security. Also includes video clips and

organizations.
SafeKids.com - A guide for families for "making the Internet and
technology fun, safe and productive." Features articles and information on
online safety for parents and children, covering topics such as computer
security, chat rooms, spyware, cell phones, and more. Includes the "Family
Contract for Online Safety."
TRUSTe: Building a Web You Can Believe In - This is another good,
concise site about Internet safety and privacy. Web Users has consumer
information including tips on using bulletin boards and chat rooms; credit
cards and reporting; identity theft, passwords, and cookies; and more. Web
Publishers has a model privacy statement, a newsletter with political and
legal updates, and information on the "trustmark" which shows that a site
conforms to TRUSTe's standard.
