    Portsmouth School Yearbook Collection
    The Portsmouth Public Library in partnership with the Library of Virginia and the Internet Archive is now providing access to scanned images of one hundred and fifty-seven entire Portsmouth School Yearbooks.  The yearbooks include high school, Middle School, Local College and Nursing School Institutions, some of which no longer exist.  The volumes date from 1923 to 1977. All of the The yearbooks in the collection have been donated to our Local History Room over many years.  The collection does not include every year for every school.  The library is always interested in adding missing years.  if you are interested in donating yearbooks to the permanent local history collection, please call us at 393-8501, ext. 6521.     Testing and Education Reference Center
    Portsmouth Public Library is now providing a Gale's Testing and Education Reference Center to it's members.  Members can now use this new service to prepare for GED, SAT, GRE, MCAT, ASVAB and other high school and college examinations.  There is a College Planning Center with all kinds of helpful information about college majors, when to start looking for colleges, checklists for both students and parents.  There are Practice Tests and Courses for the above listed high school and college exams as well as for careers such as nursing, postal worker, real estate and military.  Peterson career e-books are available to read.  There is a career section which helps you to research different career fields.    This database includes a great and easy to use online resume builder.  All you need is an internet connection and an active Portsmouth Public Library card.  Please take a look at this valuable and practical source of information.
